Physical Activity -Versus- Exercise

beyondimagehhf

By definition, physical activity is the movement that is carried out by the muscles that requires energy, while exercise is planned, structured, repetitive and intentional movement intended to improve or maintain physical fitness. In short, exercise is a subcategory of physical activity. While research shows that all physical activity has a positive impact on health and wellness, exercise improves physical fitness (cardiorespiratory, strength, endurance, flexibility, body composition). Suggestions on how to become more physically active: standing more often than sitting – find ways to get up and move before, during and after work. Walk on your lunch hour; take the stairs instead of the elevator. At home try: gardening; cleaning; keeping a mat or weights nearby when watching television.

Bible Verses about physical fitness:

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV)

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Our bodies are not our own and exercise is one of the best ways that you can take care of yourself, not just physically, but also mentally and spiritually. You house the Holy Spirit and that is not a task to be taken lightly!

Proverbs 31:17 (KJV)

17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

Stay prepared for any vigorous tasks that you may face daily…walking up and down the stairs, carrying groceries, running after the kids; these are all things that we can ready ourselves for by staying physically fit!

Philipians 4:13 (KJV)

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Exercising may seem difficult and having the will power to maintain a healthy lifestyle is even harder. But trust and believe that just as any task, God is more than capable of giving us just what we need to persevere. You are stronger than you think…if you never push yourself past your comfort zone, you will never grow!

1 Timothy 4:8 (KJV)

8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Our relationship with God is of the utmost importance. Godliness, our spiritual health, should always come first. Although the scripture uses the word “little” when mentioning the value in physical training, it does indeed recognize the importance of physical training. As vessels of God, we must always keep our physical health a priority!

I encourage you to make your health a priority by creating a conscious for healthy living!

Stay #Fit4Christ :-)
